I think it’s inspiring that certain Schools are starting to engage and encourage Children from an early age to think about Healthy Living and Healthy diets – much of the focus has been on negatives and not positives.

 

In an event organized by Shanghai Daily, 20 children had lessons in healthy diets through experiments at the BASF Kids’ Lab at the Shanghai Museum of Science and Technology on Sunday.

The lessons, named “Clever Foodies,” are part of the chemical company’s annual education program to introduce local children aged between 6 and 12 to fun interactive scientific experiences.

Children were able to explore and analyze the substances contained in fruit and vegetable.

At Saturday’s class, the students learned to measure and compare vitamin C content in a variety of fruit juices, including fresh lemonade, fresh orange squash and bottled orange juice. They found the fresh lemonade contains the highest content of vitamin C.

Through such experiments, the organizers hope children will develop a good understanding of the benefits of eating a colorful range of vegetable and fruit.
The education program kicked off on July 2 and will end on July 11 in Shanghai before moving to Beijing and Chongqing.
